YOU HAVE ALL THE POWER- USE IT OR LOSE IT

Something else happened in the first half of May … we have multiple stores up in sales. That could mean the beginning of a turn in sales. Those with right operations may begin to see sales turn. Those without the right operations, it really doesn’t matter how much external factors help, they will struggle and lag behind the group. That is true in any business.  

I cannot stress the following strongly enough. Sustainable success is not a product of hard skills; it is a by-product of the “other skills.” Working with a purpose, people engagement, retention and development, organizational skills, environment management, time management, and knowing the difference between motivation and discipline… are the mastered skills that separate the successful from the stragglers. Focusing on these areas will lead to long-term success. The ownership mentality gets this and works on those skills. The employee mentality fights it and minimizes these skills.  

Leadership skills are like math… they never, ever lie. 2 + 2 is and will always be 4. Whether you like, believe, or accept it, the outcome will never be any different. A leader who cannot develop and engage, cannot maintain a nice environment, or lacks discipline will never yield the right results. Leadership skills never, ever lie. Your results are a by-product of your leadership. There is something very cool about that, though. It means you have the power to be the solution to every good thing you want to happen. As long as you spend time working on the “other skills” and not trying to convince yourself 2 + 2 = 3 or 5, you are never more than a few days or weeks away from moving in the right direction. You. Have. All. The. Power. Use it or lose it.
